Obituary of William Oliver Bess ~ 2004

William Oliver Bess departed this life March 13, 2004, at Bayside Hospital.
He was born in Bayboro, N.C. to the late Annie and Charles Bess. He 
graduated from Booker T. Washington High School and attended Norfolk State.
Later he served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the American Legion 
Post 5 and The Up Town Boys. Also, a member of New Calvary Baptist Church. 
He also was a U.S. Postal Carrier.  
Survivors include a sister, Hettie B. Lockett of Norfolk; three brothers, 
Howard Bess of Houston, Texas, George Bess of Baltimore, Md. and Earnest 
Bess of Norfolk; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  
The funeral will be held at New Calvary Baptist Church Friday at 11 a.m. 
by Dr. Gilbert G. Campbell Jr. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Friends may join the family at 949 Tifton St., Norfolk, Chesapeake Gardens.
