ORIENTAL - William C. “Billy” Johnston, 76, died Friday, March 23, 2007, 
at Craven Regional Medical Center.  
Mr. Johnston was a member of Oriental United Methodist Church, where he 
was a member of the choir. He was a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, 
having served in Vietnam, and worked with civil service for 20 years. 
He was also a member of the VFW 8094, where he was past commander, Mt. 
Vernon Masonic Lodge No. 359, Shriners, a 30-year member of the Sudan 
Patrol and Road Runners, and the Pamlico Chorale.  
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Oriental United Methodist Church with 
the Rev. Walter Graves officiating.  
Burial will be in the Johnston Cemetery with Masonic rites by Mt. Vernon 
Masonic Lodge No. 359.  
He is survived by his wife, Edna Johnston; one son, David Wayne Johnston 
and wife Pamela of New Bern; three daughters, Deborah Johnston Altman of 
Lexington, S.C., Sharon Johnston Meadows and husband Bob of Minnesott 
Beach, and Judy Johnston Robinson and husband Tom of Ashburn, Va.; seven 
grandchildren, Athol H. Altman III, Mark Allen Willis, Lindsey Gayle 
Willis, Michelle Robinson, Chris Robinson, David Johnston Jr. and Bradley 
Johnston; and three great-grandchildren, Paitin Altman, Reilly Altman and 
Alissa Schmidt.  
The family will receive friends at Bryant Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. 
Sunday and other times at the residence.
