Obituary of William Carlton "Sonny" Midyette ~ 2002

RALEIGH, NC - W.C. "Sonny" Midyette, born November 17, 1909, died on 
September 9, 2002. 
Mr. Midyette had been a resident of Manorhouse Assisted Living Facility in 
Raleigh since May 1997. Mr. Midyette was born in Oriental, NC, a dedicated 
and committed waterman to the end of his days. He served in the Coast 
Guard in World War II and worked for Westinghouse in Raleigh for over 20 
years. He contributed to the community through years of service in the 
Optimist Club, taking particular pleasure in working for the Annual Tarheel
Regatta, and was a member of Fairmont Methodist Church for over 50 years. 
Mr. Midyette was predeceased by his wife of nearly 40 years, Vivian Simmons
Midyette. 
He is survived by his son, William Carlton Midyette, Jr. and daughter-in-
law, Catherine MacNair Midyette; his daughter, Rebecca Midyette Barnes; 
and 4 grandchildren: William Carlton Midyette, III, Catherine Rosalle 
Midyette, Grayson Rebecca Barnes and Dorothy Cain Barnes, all of Raleigh. 
The family greeted friends at the home of Carlton and Catherine Midyette 
on Wed., Sept. 11. A private graveside service for the family was held at 
Raleigh Memorial Gardens.
