ORIENTAL - William Preston Whitney Jr., 56, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011, at 
his residence.  
A native of Oriental, he was a graduate of Pamlico County High School. 
He retired from the U.S. Army.  
His funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, at Mt. Zion Church, 
316 Allen Lewis Dr., Cary. Burial will follow at Wake Memorial Park.  
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Whitney of Raleigh; his father, 
William Preston Whitney Sr. of Cary; children, Monique Green and Adrian 
Jones, both of Oriental, Ronisha Dyer of Bridgeport, Conn., and LeAndre 
Jackson of Raleigh; sisters, Sephie Taylor and Portia Perry, both of 
Raleigh; six grandchildren.
