Willie Roosevelt Askew, 84, of 3137 Don Lee Road, Arapahoe, died Sunday, 
April 26, 2009, at Craven Regional Medical Center.  He was a native of 
Hertford and a U.S. Army World War II veteran. He retired to Arapahoe 
after employment as the owner and operator of a dry-cleaning business, and 
he became a member and deacon of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. His 
funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist 
Church, with the Rev. Armandez Crawford officiating. Burial will be in the 
Mt. Zion Church Cemetery, with military honors.  
He is survived by his two sons, Christophy Askew of Ft. Washington, Md., 
and Willie L. Askew of Temple Hills, Md.; two grandchildren; and four 
great-grandchildren.  The family will receive friends at the residence. 
Viewing will be at Oscar's Mortuary from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and at 
the church an hour prior to the service Saturday.
